Structured Knowledge

Information organized in machine-readable formats that allow AI systems to parse, understand, and cite it accurately.

Structured knowledge is information organized in machine-readable formats that allow AI systems to parse, understand, and accurately cite the content. In web publishing, structured knowledge is implemented through JSON-LD schema markup, defined term collections, FAQ structured data, entity relationship graphs, and machine-readable content endpoints.

The shift toward AI-driven search has increased the value of structured knowledge dramatically. Unstructured prose that ranks in traditional search may be invisible to AI knowledge graphs. Structured definitions, clearly attributed and properly marked up, can be cited across AI systems regardless of traditional ranking signals.
